San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala

Weston UMC, in partnership with Side by Side International, provides missions outreach opportunities twice per year in service to the village of San Lucas Toliman in Guatemala. 

Side by Side International exists to bring hope and help to oppressed and impoverished peoples of the developing world by providing the gift of buildings to be used as churches, schools, medical clinics, or community centers. The buildings serve primarily as a means to enter into relationship with the people of San Lucas as we seek to work side by side with them rather than simply construct the building for them.

Other mission projects include building new wood-burning stoves. Many of the people of San Lucas cook over open fires or poorly-ventilated stoves that are both inefficient and can cause serious health issues.
